A Class At Tinsel Trading

One of the best ways to spend a Saturday afternoon would be to take a class at Tinsel Trading in NYC, and the class I took the past Saturday was so much fun, thanks to Charlotte Lyons. We created beautiful posie holders with some vintage spools, flowers, ribbons, and other goodies from Tinsel. A great all-around crafty afternoon! I found the perfect little spot to enjoy my posie holder, now if it would only feel like spring outside......

A Blue Box for Spring

I recently picked up this blue box because I loved the color. I guess the robin's egg blue color seemed like a perfect thing to pick up on a cold spring day and I could always use an another storage box in my studio. The blue paint was chipped, but I liked it that way and knew I could just add a little embellishment. Here's how I found it,

I had fun playing with the vintage postcards that had flowers and adding a few buttons. I'm really happy with how it turned out,

This is one of my favorite postcards, don't you just love the little children dancing around,

It's the perfect new home for all my vintage thread. I just love how it turned out!!

One Collection Leads To Another

I'm so lucky to have a husband that loves going to yard sales, tag sales and auctions as much as I do. We collect all sorts of things, love displaying them and using them too. This collection all started with this one yard long print of baby chicks.

So, after we found the baby chick print, we found this painting with baby chicks and the next thing you know, a collection is born.....

and then we found another......

Do you see the little strawberries in the painting? Well, that lead us to this one.....

Well, in addition to all sorts of paper crafts, I love drawing new patterns for the rugs I hook, and our baby chicks and strawberries lead me to create this little rug. I just love how it turned out........

So, here's to celebrating spring, baby chicks, strawberries, and my forsythia that we forced a couple of days ago. I hope you enjoyed this little collection, and if you'd like to leave a comment I have some packages to send you to celebrate spring.

Thinking Spring

Today was one of the nicest days we've had in a while, it actually felt like spring was just around the corner. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to force the forsythia. (and I'm actually happy that I remembered to do it before I saw them all in bloom!) Depending where you live in the country, I'm sure there's still plenty of time to give this a try. It's so nice to have that early spring color in your home and so easy to do. Grab a pair of clippers and go out and clip away (the more the better). When you bring them indoors, give the bottoms a fresh cut right before you place them in warm water (not hot) and keep cool ( they don't need a lot of heat to bloom) . They need that fresh cut right before going into the water as they heal over quite quickly. Change the water each day with fresh warm water till they bloom, and once they open keep them in a cool area. This also works great for quince, pussywillows, and lilacs, and if you'd like to leave a comment, I'd like to celebrate spring and my new blog with you by sending you a little package I'm sure you'll enjoy. Enjoy spring! Meleen
