Journals Journals Journals
There are so many reasons to have so many journals, jotting down a quick thought or idea, a sketch, a clipping from a magazine.
I enjoy making new journals, but I love finding the old ones too. Reading through them is a real treat, the old ink on the page, what was so important to someone that they had to write it down.
Ledgers filled with pages and pages of inventory. Homemakers who wrote down every nickle they spent, school notes, or favorite recipes, it doesn't matter what it's about, it's fascinating to see and read.
Beautiful old penmanship, aged pages, worn and mellowed covers!
A glimpse into someone's life...I love it all! Sometimes, you can come across one that's aged to perfection and never been used, a real treat to get creative. At first, I would save the blank ones, leaving them blank, how sad! Once I could get past that, I realized they're wonderful to use...and a bonus...no need to age the pages!! I wonder what someone will think when they find my journals someday!!

I had to write and say, "Hello, friend." I found you through your comment on Kari & Kijsa's blog. There I was wracking my brain to think of a wonderful use for doorknobs. I scanned the comments and saw that many people were like me. You know, use beautiful doorknobs for... doorknobs. Then, I read your comment.
Anyone with a creative spark like that, I had to visit. I'm so glad I did. I am a passionate lover of journals. I have had a post about journaling in the back of my mind for a while now. YOu have given me just the spark I need to begin. When I finish, I'll come back and let you know, just in case you are interested.
Thanks for the ideas. You have a lovely blog. Hope your weekend is wonderful.

Your collections are marvelous!!! Those journls are especially wonderful! While in France, we stayed at a country Manoir in which the lady of the house had the MOST magical collections. In face, she had matted and framed journal pages where a young girl (about 13 years old) in the late 1800's had taken an old receipt journal just like yours and painted watercolor images on them! Your could still see the items and dollar amounts peeking thru the childish paintings! They were delightful!

I loved all the journals. Wish I could pop over and read a few. I have quite the stash of my own journals that I've written over the years. I also like making books. You would love doing book binding.
